New Releases 16.02.09

This week on We7 you can listen for free, to the highly anticipated, ninth solo album from Morrissey – Years Of Refusal.  Featuring his latest single release I’m Throwing My Arms Around Paris, Morrissey has described this record as his “strongest work to date”. 

ClashMusic has commented that it is “in a word brilliant”, with Pitchfork giving it an 8.1 and Spin a four star rating.

The Days release the first single No Ties from their forthcoming album, due to be out this Spring.  We’ve got an exclusive interview with the boys from Devon, on becoming a four-piece and the new single and album.  We also recommend a comedy viewing of their cover of Usher’s Love In This Club on their Myspace!

We also love to write about new and emerging music at We7, and this week our top pick comes from Natalie Williams presents: Soul Family Volume one.  This album brings you a selection of some of the most respected and accomplished, but not necessarily well know, UK live soul vocalists and musicians on the scene today.  Featured artists include Nate James, Vula and Sharlene Hector (Basement Jaxx) and Lucy Silvas and Tawiah.

Also out today is the Official Soundtrack for Notorious, the Biggie Smalls biopic film.  It features a majority of his well known tracks, such as Hypnotise and One More Chance, as well as some unreleased demos and tributes from Jadakiss and his widow Faith Evans.  A must listen for any Hip Hop fan.

And finally, in our Playlist section you will find featured playlists of this year’s BRITs Nominees and for those partial to a bit of air guitar you can rock out to Essential Tracks featuring guitar legends from Hendrix, The Stones and GnR, to Dire Straits.
