NIKI & THE DOVE FAVOURITES RADIO

NIKI & THE DOVE: MUSIC THAT INSPIRES US

Hotly-tipped Swedish duo Niki & The Dove create ethereal, synth-spiked intelligent pop with a distinctly Scandinavian and sometimes otherworldly flavour that has been championed by the likes of Annie Mac and brought them fifth place in the BBC Sound of 2012 poll.

Niki & The Dove comprises Malin Dahlström and Gustaf Karlöf, who formed the band in February 2010, choosing a name rumoured to be inspired by Prince songs.

We asked the pair to create their own WE7.com radio station for your listening pleasure, which gives an insight into what has inspired their own sound. As a consequence, their choice of songs, which include those from Roberta Flack and Blue Oyster Cult, represent quite a journey.

Last year Niki & The Dove released two EPs, The Fox and The Drummer, full of electro pop that is vital, and full of emotion, and heightening expectations for their debut album which is due for release on 14th May.

The single “DJ, Ease My Mind” is out on 26th February.

Rebecca Ferguson Radio

Having released her debut single “Nothing’s Real But Love” last month, last year’s X Factor runner-up Rebecca Ferguson has just put out her debut album “Heaven” and already looks set to be the most successful contestant of last year’s series! The album has gained a whole bunch of great reviews and seems to be heading towards the top of the charts with it reported as the most pre-ordered X Factor release.

To mark the release of her new album, Rebecca has created her own we7 station made up of her favourite tracks, which also features two new tracks from the album!

You can listen to Rebecca Ferguson’s we7 station here.

Here’s what she chose and why:

1. Fleetwood Mac – Everywhere
I love this just because it’s a tune!

2. Avicii - Levels
It really gets me in the party mood.

3. Sam Cooke – A Change Is Going To Come
It’s got so much soul.

4. Texas - Inner Smile
This one reminds me of my youth.

5. Florence and the Machine - Dog Days Are Over
This song really inspires me.

6. Lykke Li - Little Bit
It’s got rhythm.

7. Ben Howard - Keep Your Head Up
The reason I like this song is in the title!

8. Adele – Hometown Glory (High Contrast remix)
It reminds me of my hometown.

9. Amy Winehouse - Love Is A Losing Game
…memories and the truth.

10. His Eye Is On The Sparrow (Marvin Gaye version)
It’s so beautiful and emotional.

plus added album tracks…

11. Rebecca Ferguson - Nothing’s Real But Love

12. Rebecca Ferguson - Shoulder To Shoulder

JLS Radio

With their third album “Jukebox” out this week, 2008 X Factor finalists JLS have put together a we7 station made up of their favourite tracks!

Click here to listen to Marvin, Aston, Oritse and JB’s top picks.

Here’s what they chose and why:

Marvin

Ed Sheeran - U.N.I

Great song, great lyrics, great artist! Just love the clever play on words. Ed is my artist of 2011.

DJ Khaled - I’m On One (feat. Drake, Rick Ross, Lil Wayne)

Reminds me of partying with the boys. It’s just a sick track. The definition of swag.

Birdy - Skinny Love

Such a beautiful song, incredible voice, this song has the Adele ‘Someone Like Me’ potential. Will be around for a very long time.

Aston

Lloyd - Dedication To My Ex (feat. Lil Wayne & Andre 3000)

This song is one of my favourite tracks that I’ve heard in a long time. A little bit of old school mixed in with new school! And I’ve been a big fan of Lloyd since I was in school.

Big Sean – My Last (feat. Chris Brown)

This song always gets me out of a bad mood and ready to party or catch a vibe to write something!

T-Pain - 5 O’Clock (feat. Lily Allen & Wiz Khalifa)

If you ask anyone would it work if Lily Allen and T-Pain worked together you’d say no, but I LOVE it and Wiz Khalifa tops it off for me!

Oritse

Emeli Sande - Heaven

It’s an absolutely epic song that was far different from any song this year.

Tinie Tempah - Written In The Stars (feat. Eric Turner)

I feel like that is the song that represents my life.

Black Eyed Peas – Just Can’t Get Enough

This group always brings out songs that set trends and this is just another one.

JB

Cher Lloyd – With Ur Love (feat. Mike Posner)

It’s super catchy and this track puts a smile on my face!

Labrinth – Earthquake (feat. Tinie Tempah)

This is a huge tune. I love hearing this at any time of the day. Both super talented guys!

Alicia Keys – Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart

The Element of Freedom album was the album of 2010 for me but this track has made a return and will definitely be my Christmas jam this year. LOVE. IT.
